Markham’s Canada Day Celebration Returns with Star Power and Lots of Family Fun
MARKHAM, ON – June 18, 2025 – The City of Markham is thrilled to invite residents and visitors to its Canada Day Celebration, presented by Tim Hortons, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 3 to 10:30 PM at Markham Centre in Downtown Markham (Birchmount Rd. & Enterprise Blvd.). This year’s festivities promise to be bigger and better than ever, co-headlined by two of Canada’s hottest musical talents: Alx Veliz and Jamie Fine.
We’re pleased to welcome to our main stage our two headline performers: Alx Veliz, the Latin-Jamaican pop sensation behind the Platinum hit Dancing Kizomba, and four-time JUNO nominated artist Jamie Fine, known for her Platinum smash hit, If Anything’s Left.
The celebration will also feature:
- Free family-friendly entertainment and children’s activities
- Inflatables, sensory zones, and interactive games
- A diverse selection of food trucks and booths, offering everything from BBQ skewers and poke bowls to churros and bubble tea
- Markham Fire and Emergency Services’ DRAGO unit— a new specialized auxiliary vehicle used to fight fires by projecting a powerful mist over long distances
- A spectacular fireworks show at 10 PM
- A chance to win “Coffee for a Year” courtesy of Tim Hortons (Markham residents 18+ only)
This year’s event also commemorates a national milestone — the 60th anniversary of the Canadian flag, a powerful symbol of unity, identity, and pride for people across the country.
"Join us in celebrating 60 years of our flag and the strength of our nation! A day of unity, pride, and world-class entertainment awaits. Let's celebrate the True North, Strong and Free!," said Mayor Frank Scarpitti.
This event has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada.
Admission is free and onsite parking is available. For full event details, visit: markham.ca/CanadaDay.
Media are invited to attend. Please RSVP to media@markham.ca by Thursday, June 26, 2025. Interview opportunities with performers and City officials are available upon request.
