World Migratory Bird Day - Guided Bird Walk

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day. Join us at Swan Lake Park, one of the most biodiverse places in our city and an eBird hotspot. Participants will learn how to differentiate between bird species that are beginning their long migration to the south from those who will over winter in our community. Our theme is "Every Bird Counts - Your Observations Matter". We will highlight the need to create and adapt environments to support bird populations across all communities, and the measure the City of Markham is taking to become more Bird Friendly. We will demonstrate how to use binoculars (please bring your binoculars if you have them), field guides and birding apps to prepare you for your next birding adventure. Your walk leader, Kathleen Elizabeth Noël will share her knowledge of birds, ethical bird photography and the importance of preserving the habitats birds call home.

Parking: Parking available along street on Swan Park Road
Difficulty: Easy, flat paved path around the lake, gravel trail by ponds and through the woods with two small hills.

Children must be 6 years or older, children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
